Crowned in Wisdom: The Black Grandmother Oral History Program

Program Type: Digital Storytelling & Preservation
 

Description:
This flagship program captures and preserves the lived experiences of Black grandmothers through recorded interviews, written narratives, audio clips, and video storytelling. Stories focus on motherhood, grandmotherhood, faith, loss, resilience, caregiving, migration, activism, and joy.


Outcome: A growing digital archive that honors Black grandmothers as historians, culture bearers, and community leaders.

Crowned Voices: Traveling & Pop-Up Exhibits (Future Phase)

Program Type: Community Outreach & Mobile Museum
 

Description:
Pop-up exhibits hosted at libraries, churches, conferences, senior centers, and cultural events featuring selected stories, portraits, and interactive storytelling stations.


Outcome: Expanded reach beyond the digital museum and increased community engagement.

Write the Book, Leave the Legacy

Program Type: Story-to-Book Pipeline Program
 

Description:
Guides grandmothers from oral stories to written manuscripts, journals, or memoirs using prompts, coaching, and publishing education. Selected stories may be featured in museum publications.


Outcome: Empowerment through authorship and ownership of personal narratives.

Generations in Conversation: Intergenerational Dialogue Program

Program Type: Youth & Family Engagement
 

Description:
A program pairing grandmothers with grandchildren and younger family members to record conversations about history, identity, values, and dreams. Content may be shared as digital exhibits or private family archives.


Outcome: Strengthened family bonds and intergenerational understanding.

Faith, Family & Foundation: Spiritual Legacy Stories

Program Type: Thematic Exhibit
 

Description:
This program explores how faith, spirituality, and belief systems have sustained Black grandmothers through generations—church leadership, prayer, moral guidance, and community care.


Outcome: Recognition of spiritual leadership as a cornerstone of Black family life.

The Silver Crown Circle: Healing Through Story

Program Type: Healing & Reflection Experience
 

Description:
Facilitated storytelling circles where Black grandmothers share stories of grief, betrayal, loss, divorce, health challenges, and renewal. These sessions integrate reflection, affirmation, and collective healing.


Outcome: Emotional wellness, connection, and restoration through shared lived experience.
